  company - history

For centuries, the Cotto Tradition has had its roots in the Florentine region, especially in the Impruneta area, between the valleys of Greve and Ema rivers. The distinctive clays of this territory guarantee a product unique for both its quality and tone. Over time, Cotto has become the basic material for all types of architecture, from rustic Tuscan countryside buildings to celebrated artistic achievements such as Brunelleschi’s dome in Florence or the Squares of San Gimignano.
Il Ferrone was born in 1971, with the target of manufacturing "Cotto Pregiato Imprunetino" floors, using modern technologies to update the production process of this traditional Tuscan artefact.
Since 2004 Il Ferrone enters Vivaterra Srl, the new reference group for Cotto Impruentino at international level.
